Jack Russell Terrier News

Well, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about Little Henry being in the care of strangers. And, of course, there have been developments… Continue reading

Mardi Gras Recap

What’s the quote?

But, Mousie, thou art no thy lane,
In proving foresight may be vain;
The best-laid schemes o’ mice an’ men
Gang aft agley,
An’ lea’e us nought but grief an’ pain,
For promis’d joy!

Or, perhaps the more modern: “No battle plan survives contact with the enemy.” Continue reading

Adopting Henry

If you read last week’s post, you know little Henry is a Jack Russell terrier owned by Mrs. Greene. There have been further developments. Continue reading

Traveling with Bruno

It’s been an interesting week traveling around with Bruno. He’s a wonderful companion, but there is a downside.

I know some dogs get the ‘vomits’ when they ride around in the car, but Bruno is fine with it. The first 10 minutes or so, he wants to stick his noggin out the window, but then he settles down. Unfortunately for me, my windows aren’t electric — bad choice on my part. So, whenever we pull out onto the expressway, and Bruno is done with the wind in his face bit, I’m left trying to reach past him to roll up the window. Not the safest thing to do at seventy miles an hour. Continue reading

That has its own kind of nightmare — my Beretta started overheating on the downside of the bridge. The Ambassador Bridge makes a huge arc across and the traffic had my car idling for about 10 minutes as I got to the down slope of the arc. So I cut the engine off and coasted slowly forward. Naturally, I had trouble restarting it as I got to the actual customs booths. Continue reading

Smuggling from Canada

The problem — how to smuggle a dog, a huge dog, from Canada to the US? How about out in the open…

Here’s the plan. Travel to Detroit and buy a car using my Oklahoma driver’s license and register it in Michigan. Then, use that car with the Michigan plates to drive back across the border — using my US passport and all the paperwork I have on the dog. Oh. And hope for the best. Continue reading

Dog Fun

I haven’t posted in a while and to be honest, I thought I might abandon the whole diary thing. Life is smooth and easy here in Ontario with Uncle Max and it’s taken almost a month before I got the movin’ on feeling again. But for now, I just want to catch up on what’s been happening. Continue reading
