Busted at the US Border Crossing

Well, the smuggling operation was a success, but not without some problems. I went across the Ambassador Bridge from Windsor into Detroit. That has its own kind of nightmare — my Beretta started overheating on the downside of the bridge. The Ambassador Bridge makes a huge arc across and the traffic had my car idling for about 10 minutes as I got to the down slope of the arc. So I cut the engine off and coasted slowly forward. Naturally, I had trouble restarting it as I got to the actual customs booths.

Dog Problems

Let me introduce you to Bruno.

Bruno is a two year old Great Dane. His golden brown shade is called ‘fawn’. And he is just as big as you might imagine.Bruno is gentle and lovable and loyal and, well… a bit on the stupid side. This isn’t a dog that is going to save Timmy from the well.

There’s a job you sign up for when you are overseas touring. Like it or not, people are going to quiz you about the US. You become the ‘face’ of the country, the expert on all things American and an ambassador without portfolio. This is how I got involved with Glenn Beck and the current boycott against his advertisers.

Movin’ Again

I thought, for a while, that I might stay in Canada with Uncle Max. Just settle down. But an opportunity came my way and I jumped on it. And I’m in London. Not London, Ontario – the real London. The one with the Beefeaters.

Ulterior Motives

I don’t think I mentioned why I came to Ontario to visit Uncle Max. I’m a dually – I have dual citizenship, my mother (Max’s sister) was a native born Canadian, and so I only had to assert my rights to gain full citizenship. I was born in the US, and my dad was a US citizen, so I’m also fully American. Why does this matter?
